A Christmas Present for me...

I have spent the last couple of months hinting to hubby that I would love a small typewriter to use for my Project Life journaling. I don't like my handwriting as it can be very messy, and using a PC/printer can be time consuming (as well as complicated when printing onto labels or small cards).

Thankfully Santa must have known, and pasted on the message.

On Christmas Day I opened my last present to reveal this gorgeous 1960's Duck egg Blue Brother Deluxe portable typewriter. Hubby had been refurbishing for me throughout December whilst I was at work, complete with working bell and new ribbons.

It's gorgeous and can't wait to start using it!

December Daily... in the beginning!

Apologies for not updating my blog sooner, the month of December is a busy one for most, and I have found myself buried under presents, cards and Christmas parathinalia!

I decided to participate in December Daily and capture the Christmas spirit.

I chose to use Elle's Studio "Good Cheer" papers and cut apart sheets. I teamed this with the Freckled Fawn Christmas embellishment kit, along with a few additional items such as enamel dots, wood veneers and sequins.

Here is my December Daily stash...

I also used my Silhouette Portrait to make some coordinating labels and die cuts for my layouts.

Here is my first layout...

Dear Lizzy - Serendipity past page...

As always, new stash equals new layout.

I started by cutting up my 3 cut-a-part papers, and chose a couple of pieces to use within the layout. I also chose a couple of papers from the 6x6 paper pad. Using some off cuts from the paper pad, I made a couple of homemade flairs using a Technique Tuesday stamp set with Black Stazon Ink (I forgot to take a picture of these, but you should be able to see them on my layout!).

I went round and added ephemera and a few cut-a-part pieces to each section of the layout, and then went about piecing each card together.

I finished each card with a selection of coordinating enamel dots, wood veneers and titles using my favourite Tim Holtz Tiny Type Alphastickers.

Hope you like the finished layout!

Items Used
Dear Lizzy Serendipity - 12x12 Papers (Various Cut-a-parts)
Dear Lizzy Serendipity - 6X6 Paper Pad
Dear Lizzy Serendipity - Accent & Phrase Stickers
Dear Lizzy Serendipity - Enamel Dots

Stepping back in time again...

I ended up working from home today, which means I can sneak in some time to complete a couple more layouts whilst keeping check of my emails – It’s handy that I work and craft at the same desk!

I chose to complete a couple of July 2013 pages, which I had previously prepared with photos and my chosen cards from the Heidi Swapp My Favourite Things, and Dreamy core kits. I went through my stash and chose coordinating ephemera, and sticker sets including alphas and flair badges. I also wanted to use a few of my new homemade flairs (See post below).

Homemade Flairs...

I've made my own Flairs a few times now, using scrap patterned paper and a 1 inch circular punch, but wanted to try something a little different.

I had seen a few people on Instagram using watercolours, and then stamping onto the dried paper so I thought I would give this a go.

I used 300gsm watercolour card, and covered using very watered down paints. I chose pink, blue and yellow. I merged some of the colours to make new ones, and left some flat. Once the card was dry, I chose a few circular stamps and using my black Stazon ink pad I stamped over the watercolours.

I then used my 1 inch circular punch, and punched out the stamps. I finished using 1 inch clear epoxy stickers to give a raised and glossy effect.

Hey presto... Lots of funky homemade flairs!

Items used
300gsm water colour card
Watercolour paints
Stamps - Technique Tuesday Look Here Flairs & Jillibean Soup Spicy Social Stamps
1 Inch Circular Punch
1 Inch Clear Epoxy Stickers

Hope this inspires you to get creative!

A Stitched Layout for 2013...

Today has been a day of rest and recuperation in the ChelleBelle household, but I decided to use some time to finish a 2013 layout. As I previously mentioned I had recently purchased some new stash, and as usual I just had to use it now! I spent an hour cutting up the Amy Tangerine Stitched 12x12 papers I purchased the other day, and used some of these for my layout.

After laying out my pictures onto the 6x4 and 3x4 cards, I started sorting through the Stitched ephemera box to find pieces that would work well on each card. I pulled out the Stitched sticker sheets and puffy stickers, and my usual Tim Holtz mini alphas. I finished each card using wood veneers, enamel dots or gems where needed.

Hope you like the finished layout.

An October 'Lovely' Layout...

After spending most of the morning organising my Raskog (again!), and going through all my lovely new bits, I finally got down to business and decided to complete an October layout for 2014.

I chose cards from the Shimelle Project Life Lovely Mini kit, and embellished using Crate Paper Open Book stickers, ephemera and Rub ons. I like using Tim Holtz mini alpha stickers in black as they are perfect size for Project life cards, and work well with most kits/papers. I often finish my layouts using wood veneers, enamel dots or gems, and a little journaling where needed. I don't like to journal too much on my pictures as I find the picture and title is usually enough.

Here are my finished layouts. Please comment below if you would like more details on the items I used.

New Goodies...

I couldn't resist... The weekend was approaching and I had to have a little shop on one of my favourite craft websites.

I decided to stock up on some new cut apart papers and embellishments from the new Amy Tangerine line 'Stitched.'

It's a beautiful collection, with lovely pastel colours and some watercolour effect. I purchased the 6x6 paper pad, a mix of cut apart papers and the ephemera pack. I had previously purchased the sticker sheets.

I also purchased a few pieces from the new Crate Paper Maggie Holmes line, 'Open Book.'

This is another lovely collection with lots of handwritten elements, gold foil and flowers. More vibrant colours with a vintage effect. I purchased the 6x12 sticker pack which includes tiny alphas, ephemera pieces and rub-ons.

Time to start creating some layouts using my new stash!

Meet Me and My Stash

In January 2014 I finally took the plunge into the world of Scrapbooking, more specifically Becky Higgins Project Life. If you have never heard of Project Life before then the best way to describe it would be divided pocket pages filled with pictures, alongside journaling or filler cards, all held together in a pretty album. Easy!

For me though I love to be creative and wanted more detail on my pages, so the shopping sprees began. I started off small with enamel dots in a range of colours, alphabet stickers small and large, a few labels etc. Somehow the addiction took hold, my eyes were opened to a world of sparkly stickers, flair badges, stamping, die cuts… the list goes on, and so did the spending.

I heard a saying a short while ago, “One day when I’m gone, I hope my husband doesn’t sell my stash for what he ‘thinks’ I’ve paid for it…” – this rings very true for me. One new range turns into a £50.00 haul, and before I knew it I was sneaking in pizza size boxes full of goodies and quickly filling my trusty Ikea Raskog in excitement – obviously taking and sharing a photo of my new possessions first!

Obviously I have enough stuff to produce more Project Life albums that my actual life will allow me, but who am I to turn down the latest core kit, monthly embellishment subscription, or offers on stickers and paper.

So here he it is, where all my craft creations begin, my Ikea Raskog with as many cups, trays, hanging baskets as he could possibly handle

Everything in its place, with boxes of die cuts neatly arranged by product line, wood veneers separated in sectioned trays, stickers organised by type, it was time to begin producing some layouts for all those pictures I have taken.

I have already started compiling my life using paper, glue and more for 2014, but also decided to produce an album for 2013. I will show you past and present layouts, with how to guides, and product details.

This is my first blog so be prepared for a few bumps along the way, but I very much hope you enjoy my posts, and come back again soon for more.

Much love,
ChelleBelle x
